About the Role: Our client is looking for a strategic, hands-on Vice President of Fleet Operations to lead the long-term planning, performance, and innovation of a large fleet operating across North America.
As a key member of the leadership team, you’ll build and lead high-performing teams, drive data-informed decision-making, and partner closely with cross-functional departments and executive leadership. This role will have full P&L responsibility for fleet operations and is ideal for a leader who excels in complex, fast-paced environments and thrives on driving measurable results at scale.
What You’ll Do:
Lead the vision and execution of a comprehensive fleet strategy, including standardization of vehicle specifications and lifecycle planning.
Manage centralized and decentralized fleet operations, balancing long-term planning with daily execution.
Mentor and develop leaders across the fleet team, promoting career development, succession planning, and performance management.
Own the fleet operations budget, including annual planning, forecasting, and performance management.
Drive regulatory compliance with federal and state transportation, safety, and environmental laws.
Oversee predictive, preventive, and proactive maintenance programs to ensure reliability, safety, and cost control.
Build and maintain strong supplier and OEM relationships; lead negotiations on complex and long-term deal structures.
Leverage data and digital fleet solutions to drive performance improvements and operational visibility.
Ensure consistent communication across internal teams, ensuring alignment between fleet operations and field sites.
Present strategic updates and key performance insights to Executive Leadership and Board of Directors.
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Management or related field.
15+ years of progressive experience in fleet management, operations, or asset-intensive industries.
Experience leading a large fleet on a national scale, preferably across the U.S. and Canada.
Demonstrated success in managing capital and operating budgets, with strong financial acumen.
Expertise in data-enabled fleet technologies, predictive maintenance, and compliance programs.
Strong strategic mindset with proven ability to solve complex challenges and execute with speed.
Deep network across national fleet suppliers, OEMs, and service providers.
Executive-level communication skills and ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
