About the Opportunity: My client is seeking a Development Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of assigned development projects, with a primary focus on managing the construction phase from early site work through final certificate of occupancy.
In this position, you will lead cross-functional teams including design professionals, third-party consultants, and general contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys taking ownership of complex development projects from start to finish.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and manage all construction-related activities for assigned multifamily development projects
Oversee daily construction operations performed by the General Contractor and subcontractors
Manage design professionals and consultants, acting as a liaison between the design team, Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), general contractor, and internal leadership
Coordinate project permitting, approvals, inspections, and closeout activities
Review and manage design changes, including evaluating scope and cost impacts of change orders
Monitor project schedules and budgets, ensuring delivery aligns with actual progress and financial targets
Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality standards, safety, and progress milestones are met
Prepare and distribute weekly project status reports to the management team
Identify and mitigate project-specific risks throughout the construction lifecycle
Research and evaluate construction methods, materials, and value-engineering opportunities
Monitor local construction market trends, including labor availability and material pricing
Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, vendors, and public agencies
Represent the organization professionally in interactions with community and municipal stakeholders
Travel to project sites as required, including occasional overnight stays
What We’re Looking For:
2–4 years of experience in construction management or a construction-related field
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
Strong working knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, and cost controls
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with MS Project a plus
Familiarity with project management software such as Procore or Projectmates preferred
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently on-site
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated with excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners
Willingness to relocate near assigned project sites and work from on-site or local offices
