My client is seeking a Senior Accountant to play a key role in managing the organization’s general ledger accounting processes within a collaborative Business Office environment. Reporting to the Controller, this individual will be responsible for recording and reconciling monthly account activity, managing fixed assets, and supporting the overall accuracy of financial reporting.
This position offers strong visibility across the organization, with regular interaction with employees, students, and parents. What You’ll Do
Perform general ledger account reconciliations, including investments, accounts receivable, accrued liabilities, and other balance sheet accounts
Manage fixed asset accounting, including acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation
Monitor and reconcile monthly bank account activity
Reconcile merchant and credit card transactions
Assist with the student billing process and respond to student and parent inquiries as needed
Monitor, account for, and report unclaimed property to relevant state agencies
Prepare annual Forms 1098-T and respond to related inquiries
Prepare monthly journal entries and departmental cost allocations
Maintain accurate and organized accounting records to support the annual financial statement audit
Assist with additional accounting responsibilities and special projects as needed
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
2–5 years of accounting experience
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with accounting systems and financial software
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and solve non-routine problems
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiencies
Professional, team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills
